Distinguish, differentiate, compare and explain what is the difference between Centralized and Distributed DBMS. Comparison and Differences.

Comparison and Difference between Centralized and Distributed DBMS

1. In the Centralized DBMS system, the data is stored at a single computer site, which can be used by multiple users. In the Distributed DBMS system, Database and DBMS software are distributed over many sites, connected by a computer network.

2. Centralized DBMS maintains the database at one site. Distributed DBMS maintains the database at a number of different sites.

3. If the centralized system fails, the entire system is halted. In Distributed, if one system fails, the system continues work with other sites.

4. A centralized system is less reliable whereas Distributed DBMS is more reliable.
