Difference between Fertilization and Double Fertilization

1. Fertilization is the union of two compatible gametes. Double Fertilization is union of one male gamete with egg and the other male gamete with secondary nucleus of the same embryo sac.

2. Fertilization occurs in almost all ettkaryotes. Double fertilization is restricted to angiosperms only.

3. Fertilization produces a diploid zygote. Double fertilization produces a diploid zygote and a triploid primary endosperm cell.
